“The New Game is Becoming The Platform” -The Professor
Hello Rollers,
You’ve heard by now about The Professor, the biggest basketball influencer in the world, launching his own social token. He’s not only bringing a massive following into the world of web3 but has been pushing boundaries his entire career. His quote about how social tokens allow the community to become the platform is really resonating with us.
You can see other examples of “becoming the platform” in Harrison First’s next album, where he is literally weaving his community into the production itself! And we also saw the MARTE DAO flex their voting rights not just on if they should engage with the Marble Cards platform, but how they should do it.
Something to love about a truly web3 community built on social tokens is that they don’t abandon platforms, but they integrate with them on their own terms. The interaction is more a partnership than the typical platform/user relationship. We’re excited to share these examples of what social token-powered communities are doing and how they are doing it. If you’ve been exploring social tokens and you’re ready to Roll you can get in touch and propose your social token here!
Who's on a Roll
🏀 The biggest basketball influencer in the world, The Professor, just launched his social token $CROSS:
The name of the game isn’t about which platform to use anymore, it’s about becoming the platform. - The Professor
Innovation is the name of the game for The Professor, who literally created the genre of “hooper influencer” and now has over a billion views on YouTube and 16 million followers across social media. Now he’s taking on web3 and recruiting his whole community to join team $CROSS with exclusive NFT drops, content, and experiences, plus a portion of proceeds will be donated to his favorite non-profits. Token holders will also be able to join his Discord and interact with him, other basketball legends, and the entire $CROSS community.

Social Token Governance
👀This section covers everything that has to do with DAOS, from new launches to governance proposals to any DAO-related news.
One of the pillars of DAOs is decentralizing decision-making by putting it in the hands of the community. Creators act more like a lighthouse, but control shifts to the community to collectively guide the ship in the right direction through on-chain governance. This ability to take collective control proves the value of the social token as it shifts more power directly to community members.
An incredible example of this is musician Harrison First’s announcement that his next album will start with crowdfunding in exchange for 10% ownership of his master royalties paid in $FIRST, his social token. Not only that but he is splitting control of the album with members of his DAO, giving his fans and community the role of something like a decentralized producer! It’s amazing to see an artist incorporating their community so much into the process of the work and blur all the lines between fan, supporter, producer, and community.
On top of that, MARTE DAO recently held a vote to determine the amount of $MARTE they should allocate (if any) to their collaboration with Marble Cards in the creation of “Martians of Marte” arena. The vote was a great example of the control a community can have over its treasury when operating as a DAO. Members could vote between 0, 500, 1000, 1500 tokens to be allocated, with 1500 tokens becoming the majority vote.

Things start to get $GROOVY
Groovypedia is an independent music platform that has recorded, distributed, and published music worldwide for more than 10 years. Today they are a hybrid web2 & web3 platform but well on their way into transitioning to a DAO. As a DAO they will be able to collaborate with artists by giving them influence on major decisions. (see Social Token Governance above for more on that).
With a recent soft launch of their Discord, Groovypedia dropped 1 $GROOVY to the first 50 members that joined. It was no surprise to see that members poured into the Discord within minutes.
$MARTE x MarbleCards
After the DAO voted on how much of their social token $MARTE to allocate, the “Martians on Marte” MarbleCards arena has been officially announced. By participating in the arena, you can earn $MEM, $MARTE, and art from artist and creator of $MARTE, Pako Campo.
Pako has definitely been on a roll as he and the MARTE DAO recently announced the creation of CyberMartians, a collection of 10,000 unique NFTs.
$FIRST in everything
Harrison isn’t just thinking about his music when he’s considering web3 tools. Since the dawn of MTV music videos have been a key part of the release of new music. to share are a big part of any person working in the music industry as they help make the music’s storytelling more interactive and captivating.
Harrison’s latest release of the music video “BASIC”, a collaboration with artist Angie, is pushing the music video into web3 as an NFT on Glass protocol. It was no surprise that it quickly sold for 1 ETH.
All $GENRE
Matthewdavid hosted an online DIY sound mastering workshop that was completely free for $GENRE holders. More than a hundred people showed up to listen to insights and shortcuts for music mastering in a workshop session that lasted for a good two and a half hours!
Some attendees submitted their own music ahead of time allowing Matthewdavid to experiment on it, which not only highlighted some of his tricks for sound mastering but was a great way to share the music being made within the $GENRE family.
$COA-gated love
Founder of C.O.A and artist Norberto Rodriguez is no stranger to exploring love as an art form. In 1995, he married a stranger for a year as part of that exploration, and now he’s doing it again, only this time around he’s doing it through his token $COA.
For 100 COA, you can go on a date with Norberto (in person if you’re in Los Angeles!). If the date goes well, you’ll receive a 1/1 NFT that you can either sell or trade for a second date.
