Social Money Times #18
Hello Rollers,
Household brands are making their foray into NFTs and some new social tokens are introduced to the market at the tail end of 2021. This is the last issue of the Social Money Times for this year and we really can’t wait for what’s coming in 2022.
Welcome to Social Money Times #18!

2️⃣ Adidas Apes. Adidas, the largest sportswear manufacturer in Europe and the second-largest in the world after Nike, dropped their own NFTs in collaboration with the Bored Ape Yacht Club, Punks Comic, and gmoney. A total of 30,000 NFTs came with accompanying physical items, which will be released in 2022.
3️⃣ Pepsi NFTs. Carbonated soft drink manufacturer Pepsi made their foray into the world of NFTs after announcing their “Pepsi Mic Drop” NFT collection earlier this month. Roll Academy
Editing your token’s page. As a creator on Roll, you have your own page for your token. It’s a good practice to fill in the about section and add your social links so people can find you and know it’s you.
Go to your token’s page. From your Dashboard, click on “Wallet” and then click on your token’s card.
Add links. Click on “Add Social Links,” select the type of link you want to add from the dropdown menu, paste in the URL, and click “Add.” After you’ve added a link, a new input field will appear to add more (you can add up to 8 links). When you’re done adding links, click “Done.”
Fill in your “About” section. Right underneath your token’s details, there’s an “About” section you can fill in. Click on “Edit” and add a description for your token. You can use text, images, and links.

Humans of Social Money: Matthew "Matthewdavid" McQueen of GENRE
“$GENRE was created from the prompt of a few close friends in the web3 space as an alternative to the current structures & systems of the music industry. Developing the $GENRE concept will serve as a resource to facilitate a new inspiring frontier of equitable, and cooperative models integrated within our record label giving back to our artist and fan community.
We operate as a DAO and members of the community are experimenting with NFTs via our Catalog page, exchanging and developing ideas via our Discord community, and investing in a cooperative DAO treasury to provide resources to our artist communities. We’re also exploring token-gated experiences, GenreDAO governance, and onboarding people to web3 via $GENRE.
We’re thinking about bridging the fan-to-artist relationship via a record label, thus progressively disrupting the traditional model/concept of a record label. We want to provide more opportunities to chat/interact with us behind the scenes at Leaving Records and with the artists/musicians, we represent. In addition, we’re working on more exclusive perks from our artist community like merch, streaming experiences, audio and visual drops, events, etc.
I have a very positive outlook for the future of social tokens and their impact on creatives, especially when it is driven via progressive artist community dialogue. The programmability and implementation of social tokens can lead to the amazing actualization of truly valuing music, the artist/musician community's creative projects (even artist mutual aid initiatives).
We’re an open and welcoming community and anyone with a serious and invested interest in supporting left-of-center/experimental/under-represented music communities can jump into our Discord and claim some $GENRE. Launch a conversation with us and start jamming. We'd love to have you be a part of instigating a new model for the music industry”. – Matthew "Matthewdavid" McQueen, artist & founder of Leaving Records (est 2008/2009). Follow Leaving Records on Twitter and join the $GENRE Discord.
