Humans of Social Money with Brady McKenna of TIDE
“I am a professional streamer, educator & consultant, community builder, musician, and the founder of Stream Tide, an upcoming crowdfunding app similar to Patreon and Gitcoin Grants. My involvement in the crypto space goes back as early as 2011. Over the past 10 years, I’ve spent time at Coinbase, and I’ve been contributing to Player Edition, district0x, and a number of DAOs.
Every week, I host Dapp Digest, an on-demand educational show that covers a variety of content ranging from discussions with developers building the next generation of the internet, Web3 focused tutorials, walkthroughs, developer conference coverage, crypto art & music-related content, and much more. We also host play-to-earn community game nights, and many other fun events.
$TIDE is the social token for the Dapp Digest stream. We will be experimenting with the best crypto has to offer in an effort to build a “Twitch-based DAO”. The token ultimately poses the question “Can we create community governance over a Twitch stream & its treasury?” It also asks, “How decentralized can we make the decision-making process over those funds?”. We believe DAOs will transform our world in profound ways just like the internet attempted to do during the web 2.0 era. Contrary to Web2.0, Web3 is all about ownership and access and solves many of the shortcomings of Web2.0.
$TIDE is a social experiment and the token has limited use cases beyond being an educational tool. While it will primarily be used within the stream, we will be experimenting with the governance of the stream’s treasury which we’ve built by collecting tips on stream, claiming airdrops, and engaging with the crypto community. Governance over the treasury will be slowly rolled out through token-based experiments while following in the footsteps of the top DAOs and DeFi”.
